The major reason for using a body armor in the first place is to enjoy protection against ballistic rated threats. However, these soft armors do not offer such protection. At least, not enough. Sure, they are light weighted. But, wouldn’t you rather opt for better protection?

Over the years, there has been an exponential increase in the use of plate carriers among policemen as well as citizens. As soldiers are figuring out the remarkable advantages of the plate carriers, they are passing this knowledge to the cops who have for long being in search of better protection. So, cops can now drop the “active shooter” bag in the cruiser and pick up high-quality plate carrier.

Not only do plate carriers help officers to carry all the necessary equipment that they require for operations, it also provides a better protection against ballistic threats. Often times, the use of plate carriers have been attributed to the SWAT team. However, with the increasing level of danger that cops face on patrol, the use of plate carriers is not far-fetched. Plate carriers can be smartly worn over your police uniform even as you go about your day to day operations.

Most manufacturers design their plate carriers with MOLLE or PALS webbing system both at the front and back of the vest. They also come with cummerbunds. These systems allow cops to attach their gadgets and gears. This way, cops can properly set up their radio, baton, taser, firearm holster, and other gears on the plate carriers using pouches.

Unlike other body armor, plate carriers can offer protection against most handgun rounds and even rifle attacks. With this, cops can achieve more with great protection and utility.
